Innovative Design

Innovative design realised with local materials and knowledge is the third important pillar of our project. Uravu Eco Links has long-standing and proven experience with bamboo structures. By using local and natural materials and introducing new and innovative designs our aim is to ‘think out of the box’. We work with an international and local team, which enhances joint learning experiences. Besides our local team, experts from Trivandrum, Bangalore, Mumbai, Assam and Switzerland are in our team and network.

We intend to base construction and furnishing of the project on green building norms: ”A green building is one which uses less water, optimises energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building.” (Indian Green Building Council). The construction thus is done with locally available materials such as bamboo, areca nut and mud. The walls are plastered with mud with a coating of eco-friendly mud- based paints. In furnishing, too, eco-friendliness and locally available products are the prime considerations.
