Bamboo Log Project

by | Jan 21, 2017 | Blog

Two houses and one community centre are currently being constructed by Uravu Eco Links. They are part of the Bamboo Log project — a two-year project, which is jointly organised by Uravu and Habitat Forum India (INHAF). The buildings serve as demonstration units to showcase the usage of bamboo in our upcoming exhibition from 11 to 14 February 2017!

The model houses are built for the socio-economic class that is eligible for a house under the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) scheme, which was set up by the Indian Government for the rural poor.

The community center will be used as a social platform for women, children and elderly people where they can gather and get involved in various activities.

The aim of the project is to promote bamboo as a mainstream construction material and thereby creating income augmentation and employment for the traditional bamboo artisans and workers.
