Ankur felt inspired to work on bamboo development after visiting the Green School in Bali and Uravu Eco Links in Kerala. Recently, he collaborated with Uravu Eco Links on a project for the Meghalaya Bamboo Mission. Here, he studied the existing traditional knowledge and deep socio-economic linkages between society and sustainable materials. He is currently involved in developing a project on sustainable management of bamboo resources in the North-East region.
Ankur is an international trade and development expert. He has more than a decade of experience working on various projects for the World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), International Trade Centre (ITC), and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) among others.
He has written on South–South trade and development cooperation, connecting to value chains as well as non-tariff measures (NTMs) at the WTO. He led an Indian team on the first comprehensive legal mapping of India’s NTMs regime for UNCTAD. He has also worked on several projects concerning value chain development in developing and least-developed countries.
Ankur has advanced degrees in international law and economics as well as development studies.
